About Us
Your ancestry is often an exciting experience to uncover, but often the reasons behind why our ancestors may have lived the way they did remains a mystery. Even when you discover a new member of your ancestry, it can leave you wondering about a number of topics, such as:
Why did my ancestors move from here to there?
Why did they married and/or divorced?
What was the impact of the battles they fought in- on their physical and mental health?
How were they perceived and treated by the broader society?
My mission for this site

My hope for your visit to this blog is to leave feeling more knowledgeable about the historical topics relevant to your ancestry- whether it be on immigration, politics, economics, medical practices, and much more. I aim in each blog post to link any topic I cover back to the purpose of your ancestry.
I use articles, books (or monographs), and edited books as part of the research, because of my experience in academic research from university. They will be referenced at the bottom of the post and as footnotes through each paragraph.
Which eras will I be focusing on for your ancestry?
My expertise is in history from the late eighteenth century into the early twentieth century. My blog posts will be targeted to these periods since most family trees are concentrated within these eras. I will occasionally branch out into more distant periods both for your enjoyment and to give greater context for British and Irish history at large.
You can, however, request a specific period and topic for me to cover if you are looking to use my academic research service listed below.
